Explore North JerseyRide North Jersey
Reservoir roads, ridgelines, small-town stops and the Delaware River, all close to home.
See the roads →It feels different from driving
Ask riders why they ride and you hear the same few things.

You're in it
No roof, no glass. You feel the temperature drop as you ride past a reservoir, and you smell cut grass and woodsmoke. The ride itself is the point, not only where it takes you.

Your head clears
Riding takes your full attention. Many riders say an hour on the bike quiets the rest of the week better than anything else they do.

Instant friends
Pull into any diner lot with a bike and someone will ask about it. Riders wave to each other on the road, and group rides and bike nights fill up all season.

A skill you keep
Riding is learned and gets better with practice. Most riders keep taking courses for years and enjoy improving.
From curious to riding
Most new riders follow the same five steps. The first one is a class, not a motorcycle.
- 01Mile 1
Take a beginner course
You learn on a closed practice range, not in traffic. Training motorcycles are provided, so you don't need to buy a bike to find out whether riding is for you. Ask your course whether to bring your own helmet.

- 02Mile 2
Get your endorsement
A motorcycle endorsement gets added to your driver's license. Graduates of the state basic course may qualify to skip the MVC road test.

- 03Mile 3
Gear up
Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots and riding pants. Good gear makes riding more comfortable as well as safer. What to buy first

- 04Mile 4
Pick your first bike
Something light and forgiving that you can grow into, not the bike from the poster. Find your style

- 05Mile 5
Go ride
Short loops near home first, then longer days on the reservoir roads and ridgelines. Where to ride

Nobody rides alone for long
Your classmates become your first riding friends. After that come group rides, bike nights and riders who remember being new.
Built for riding, close to home
